| Like Scorponok in Robot Mode, like G2
Megatron in Vehicle Mode, and the articulation of both. And
how cool is it that he has Leader-1 for a slave? I like that
-- the Go-Bots are slaves... yeeeesssss...
This guy is the best brick EVER.
There's a doodad on every single limb. A ramp
that can hold two Mini-Cons on one arm, a whole array that can
hold three on the other, a claw on one leg and a ramp and smaller
claw on the other. It's crazy. All in all there's fourteen (not fifteen,
as I had originally stated) places
I've found that you can stick Mini-Cons. I, however, only have 12.
Those who have found Red
Alert have only confirmed my suspicions -- he is indeed much
like a lost member of RiD. But then there's *this* guy, Megatron.
He has FANTASTIC articulation in the arms. On the right, his hand
swivels, his forearm swivels, it bends at the elbow, the upper arm
can move in two directions. It's the same for the left arm, except
the wrist. That's because this arm has the knife gimmick on it.
His fingers and thumb actually move. It's kinda neat, actually.
But then you get down to the legs...
WHY!??!
Why, when this toy already has the makings of
the best one in the line so far, do they screw this up? I only
really want ONE thing from the legs, and that is to have them move
forwards and backwards at the hip. I can live without having knees
(or at least knees that bend the right way), but absolutely no hip
movement? With all that torque on those bulky legs, you think
something that would give a little would help alleviate the
stress, right? But there's nothing there. NOTHING. At least his
waist moves. And there are actually two hinges for each foot, and
it works rather nicely.
And that's just the Robot Mode.
How? How is his transformation rating a
4? Demolishor is tougher than
this guy! The transformation is simple, yes, but it's tight,
and for that I am thankful. He makes all sorts of crazy sounds in
this mode. There is a missile for the main turret and two more for
the little Mini-Con feature. The one for the turret has a little
ball on the end. Even though there's a spring in that turret, it's
only to keep it sticking out so it doesn't make that firing sound
all the time. That pressure firing mechanism is what actually
launches that missile. Wild.
He even has this crazy ass attack mode as a
robot where the whole missile turret array thing comes out in
front of him. I didn't even know it existed until I read the
instructions.
Honestly, my ONLY complaint about this toy is
the lack of leg movement. Everything else is superb. Well, the
orange paint is a little much. He's the first one with such
glaring aspects to his color scheme, though. Prime
is going to have to be pretty damn impressive to top this bad boy. |
