| After the
disappointment of the Deluxe Decepticons, I am pleased to say that
these Mini-Cons are worth the money. These three are the
guys that the three principal human children of the Armada TV show
find. And it makes sense -- a scooter, a bicycle, and a
skateboard. Oh yes. But one at a time
Grindor:
Perhaps my favorite. His transformation is
pretty intricate, and far more complex than that of either
Demolishor or Cyclonus, who were both rated at a 3 for
Transformation whereas these were collectively a 2.
What. Ever. Well, this little guy has jets on his
Vehicle Mode. I pray for the kid who ends up with him.
His Robot Mode is very, very nice -- the nicest out of all of
them. Individually, I give him an 8.
Highwire:
He's Cy-Kill. I mean it. Exactly the
same, except a bicycle instead of a motorbike. But that's
okay. He's simple. He's neat. But he's no
Grindor. Not by a long shot. 7
Sureshock:
He's Scooter. Really. Just like
him. Not only is this a G1 revival, it's a Go-Bots
revival. Lovely. I don't like him too much,
though. The "hands" don't emerge too well from the
scooter parts. The feet don't come apart really because of
the mechanism that allows him to become the legs to Perceptor.

Perceptor:
Cool. Effectively a brick, but cool.
He reminds me quite a bit of JRX / Railracer, but that's only in
the way he combines. He's not nearly as poseable. He's
about the size of a Beast Wars Basic. It's really great how
the colors of the individual components come together here.
The coloring itself isn't garish, even though Sureshock is
orange. Grindor and Highwire look nice. And the common
denominator between the three is that light blue color. I
like it a lot. Best Mini-Con combiner so far. Since
there's only two (now three), that makes it not so difficult. 7 |
