| I am seriously in love
with these Mini-Cons. In the Cyclonus
review I mentioned how the intelligent design of toys like Beast
Machines Jetstorm had seemingly
disappeared. Well, it's ended up right here with Armada
Jetstorm and his bretheren.
Jetstorm:
The jet mode is very tight. The legs lock
into place with the arms, making for a very tight Vehicle Mode,
something I wish that Cyclonus would have instituted. It
seems like the big guys are geared more for the little kids.
These guys are what the collectors will swoon over. His
transformation, while not mind-bogglingly difficult, is intricate
and interesting, and makes for a really nice-looking robot.
The parts come together to cover up the transparent bits
nicely. But still not my favorite of the bunch. 9
Runway:
Even though the legs don't lock down nicely like
Jetstorm's, Runway is a better Mini-Con in my opinion. His
Robot Mode looks the best and I like the colors more. He
doesn't have as much articulation as Jetstorm (no shoulders), but
eh. Still not my favorite. 9
Sonar:
I can't say I like the vehicle mode all that
much. Unlike the other two, he has no landing gear, but
given his transformation there's really no place to put
them. BUT, the transformation is really, really nice and he
even has ball-in-socket joints for the feet! How can you
beat that? His Robot Mode is really nice and reminds be
quite a bit of Beast Machines Jetstorm. 10
That Big Sword Thingy.
Lame. Though I can't judge it entirely
until I get an Armada toy that uses it and the light-piping
features built in, I really can't say that this combination
reminds me of a sword. 5
This is the best Mini-Con team that money can
buy. |
